Created in 2010 by Daniel Colling and Fernando Ladeiro-Marques, after a “test” edition in 2009 during Printemps de Bourges, MaMA Music & Convention offers a unique event concept in France.
From its beginnings, MaMA – Marché des Musiques Actuelles – has established itself as a key event for industry professionals. By organising a multitude of activities specifically for them, it encourages interaction and networking. At the same time, MaMA also offers concerts open to the general public in the lively Pigalle and Montmartre districts. For three days, these districts pulse to the rhythm of MaMA, which takes over numerous performance venues and unique spaces, creating a unique meeting place for both the general public and music industry professionals from France and abroad.
This year, MaMA returns from Wednesday, October 15 to Friday, October 17, 2025.
During the day, MaMA Music & Convention offers a multitude of activities for music industry professionals, such as conferences, debates, workshops, speed-meetings, and numerous networking opportunities to encourage connections.
Led by experts from the sector and related fields (sociologists, economists, researchers, etc.), the MaMA Great Debates explore major current issues in the music industry: the evolution of copyright and related rights, new sources of funding, the role of artificial intelligence, etc.Discussions also focus on the export of artists and, more broadly, on the international challenges facing the sector.
In addition to these music-specific topics, MaMA also addresses societal issues whose evolution influences the entire industry, both nationally and internationally. Themes such as gender equality, inclusion, ecology, and physical and mental health are also central to the debates.
For several years, a space entirely dedicated to innovation has been at the heart of the Convention: MaMA Invent. For three days, the Trianon transforms into a veritable exploration ground for the latest technological trends and new uses that will shape the music sector of tomorrow. With its village of startups, its specialized workshops and its targeted conferences, MaMA Invent is a unique place for meetings and exchanges, focused on future issues.
Le CosyLab, MaMA's "confidential lounge," also takes place at the Trianon. This space fosters more informal exchanges between professionals in a relaxed atmosphere, conducive to creativity and innovation.
The festival evenings, open to both professionals and the general public, transform Pigalle into a huge urban musical journey. For three nights, a dozen venues vibrate to the rhythm of more than 150 concerts and showcases, highlighting emerging artists as well as established talents, both French and international. This sonic whirlwind offers each spectator the opportunity to discover new talents while rediscovering their favorite artists in unique and captivating atmospheres.
MaMA's program, carefully developed in collaboration with industry players, offers an ideal balance between discovery and enjoyment. It attracts those curious to discover new things while meeting the expectations of music lovers. This true musical carnival invites everyone to be surprised by daring artists, while enjoying the performances of musicians who are already established.
