Created in 2010 by Daniel Colling and Fernando Ladeiro-Marques, after a "test" edition at the Printemps de Bourges festival in 2009, MaMA Music & Convention offers a unique event concept in France.
From the outset, MaMA - Marché des Musiques Actuelles - has established itself as a must-attend event for industry professionals. By organizing a multitude of activities specifically dedicated to them, it encourages exchanges and encounters. At the same time, MaMA offers concerts accessible to a wide audience in the lively Pigalle and Montmartre districts. For three days, these neighborhoods vibrate to the rhythm of MaMA, which takes over multiple concert halls and atypical venues, creating a unique meeting place for both the general public and music industry professionals, both French and international.
This year, MaMA returns from Wednesday October 15 to Friday October 17, 2025.
Throughout the day, MaMA Music & Convention offers a wide range of activities for music industry professionals, including conferences, debates, workshops, speed-meetings and numerous social events to encourage networking and new connections.
Hosted by experts from the sector and related fields (sociologists, economists, researchers, etc.), the MaMA Great Debates explore the major current issues facing the music industry: the evolution of copyright and neighboring rights, new sources of financing, the place of artificial intelligence, etc... Discussions also focus on exporting artists and, more broadly, on the international challenges facing the sector.
Alongside these music-specific topics, MaMA also addresses societal issues whose evolution influences the entire industry, both nationally and internationally. Themes such as parity, inclusion, ecology, and physical and mental health are also at the heart of the debates.
For several years now, a space entirely dedicated to innovation has been at the heart of the Convention: MaMA Invent. For three days, the Trianon is transformed into a veritable exploration ground for the latest technological trends and new uses that will shape tomorrow's music industry. With its village of start-ups, specialized workshops and targeted conferences, MaMA Invent is a unique place to meet and exchange ideas, focused on the challenges of the future.
The Trianon is also home to Le CosyLab, MaMA's "salon des confidences". This space encourages more informal exchanges between professionals in a relaxed atmosphere, conducive to creativity and innovation.
The evenings of the festival, open to both professionals and the general public, transform Pigalle into an immense urban music trail. For three nights, a dozen venues vibrate to the rhythm of over 150 concerts and showcases, showcasing emerging artists as well as established French and international talent. This whirlwind of sound offers each spectator the opportunity to discover new talent, while catching up with their favorite artists in unique, spellbinding surroundings.
MaMA's program, carefully put together in collaboration with the industry's key players, offers an ideal ideal balance between discovery and pleasure. It attracts the curious in search of novelty, while satisfying the expectations of music lovers. This veritable musical carnival invites everyone to let themselves be surprised by audacious artists, while enjoying the performances of musicians already musicians.
