Patrick SIGWALT

SACEM
FR

Composer, Chairman of the Sacem Board of Directors.
Patrick Sigwalt began playing the piano at the age of four, took to the stage for the first time at twelve and recorded his first album at sixteen. His studies in special mathematics and wave physics at the Cnam opened him up to new technologies. From then on, he explored the latest innovations in electronic lutherie, which he used to write his own music.
After an internship at Town House and AIR Studios in London, then at Saban Records in Los Angeles, he returned to Studios Delphine in Paris, where he produced all the company's albums, including "Ocarina", for which he received several gold and diamond discs.
Following this initial success, he founded First Dynasty with Jean Baudlot, a label focused on discovering young artists. With his new partner, he wrote the music for the video game FLASHBACK, the first of a long series.
He went on to collaborate on over 250 albums in France and abroad. His collaboration with Bernardo Sandoval gave rise to the soundtrack for Manuel Poirier's film WESTERN, for which Sandoval was awarded the César for Best Film Music. Patrick then founded the Score Factory company, which enabled him to produce and sign numerous compositions for film and television.
He is appointed professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he creates the film music class under the direction of Bruno Mantovani.
His commitment to defending music and his taste for transmission led him to be elected administrator of the Union des Compositeurs de Musiques de Films. He went on to become its President and then Honorary President.
A member of numerous national bodies, he was successively Music Commissioner of AFDAS, of the Fond pour la Création Musicale, administrator of the Union Nationale des Auteurs et Compositeurs and of the Société des Éditeurs et Auteurs de Musique. He is also a director of the Société du Droit de Reproduction Mécanique and a member of the Académie des Césars.
Patrick was elected Vice-Chairman of the Syndicat National des Auteurs et des Compositeurs and director of SACEM's Comité du cœur. It was at SACEM that he initiated the Conseil pour l'Innovation, under the patronage of Jean-Michel Jarre. He then became SACEM's commissioner, administrator, secretary general and then chairman.
A fervent defender of copyright and collective management, he launched the campaign to relocate film music recordings in France with the Orchestre National d'Ile de France and, after two years of negotiations, signed the code of practice for music publishing in the presence of the French Minister of Culture. In 2019, he will take an active part in the vote on the European copyright directive against GAFAM in the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
In parallel with his various functions, he continues to sign numerous film and series soundtracks, notably on the other side of the Atlantic, earning him the Ascap Screen Music Award 2020 for the original score of the #1 series in the USA. That same year, with Jean-Christophe Prudhomme, he wrote the music for the most exported French series in the world (UNIFRANCE Export Award 2021).
He also won the GRAND PRIX SACEM 2022 for export repertoire, and in 2023 was elected President of C.S.I., SACEM's Innovation Council.
In 2024, Patrick was again elected Chairman of SACEM's Board of Directors.
