As Chief Executive Officer of peermusic, Mary Megan Peer directs the largest privately owned music company of its kind, operating in 39 offices from 32 countries with over a million titles and 200+ employees worldwide. Peer is a third-generation music publishing executive with a Wall Street background.
Peer is setting the standard for global administration, representing other pubcos for sub-publishing (Big Machine, Concord, and Sugar).
Peer led the acquisition of the largest independent K-pop publisher in Korea, acquiring 40,000 copyrights and works by BTS and EXO and opened offices in China, becoming the first global independent in mainland China.
Peer also led the formation of peermusic Neighbouring Rights. Its roster encompasses 350 record labels and 3,000+ artists, including Teddy Swims, Aretha Franklin, H.E.R., Bruno Mars, Imagine Dragons and Megan Thee Stallion.
Mary Megan holds a BA with honors from Stanford University and an MBA from Columbia Business School. Peer has been named to Billboard’s “Power 100”, “Women in Music” and “Global Power Players” lists, featured in Music Business Worldwide’s “Inspiring Women” and is a Broadway producer.
