Mandy Lerouge is a French singer. A former sound engineer and journalist, she has been described by Patrick Labesse in the French journal Le Monde as a "singer of true stories."
For more than ten years, she has been exploring the popular music and cultures of northern Argentina, learned through oral transmission during long journeys, notebook and recorder in hand, meeting local communities and musicians. Her debut album La Madrugada (2020), produced by Vincent Segal and arranged by Lalo Zanelli, marked the beginning of an artistic journey where field research, musical creation, transmission, and audiovisual production intertwine.
In 2020, she made a groundbreaking discovery that led to four years of in-depth research between France and Argentina: some of the greatest works of the Argentine popular repertoire were composed by... a French woman. Antoinette Pépin (1908-1990), known under the male pseudonym Pablo del Cerro, secretly composed for the renowned Argentine poet and musician Atahualpa Yupanqui. The forthcoming album Del Cerro (2025), produced by Nicolas Repac, stems from this discovery. A documentary, a radio series, and a book are currently in production.
A true artist-entrepreneur, Mandy has been the artistic director of her company Le Fil Rouge since 2018, overseeing the full-scale production of her projects: tours, discography, and audiovisual works. Alongside her own projects, she collaborates with national and international artists across diverse horizons, including André Manoukian, Chango Spasiuk, Melingo, Nitin Sawhney, Raúl Barboza, Fleurs Noires, and Minino Garay.
As a bureau member of the professional network Zone Franche, Mandy Lerouge actively contributes to reflections and initiatives about the circulation and structuration of world music sector since 2022. She is also a laureate of the inaugural Artistes Génération Spedidam World Music 2025-2027 program.
