LOUIS BARABBAS
Songwriter and Firefighter
Louis is a composer-lyricist writing primarily for musical theatre, having previously toured as singer and rhythm guitarist for rock band The Bedlam Six for ten years and as a solo artist for fifteen. Between 2009-2018 he was the artistic director of co-operative label Debt Records, overseeing marketing, artist development and release strategy. He also founded the Open Recording Sessions in Manchester (pop-up studios in public spaces such as museums and art galleries that demystified the record making process), served on the advisory board for Un-Convention, sat on several committees at the Musicians Union, presented a radio show on FAB Radio and was nominated for the Creative Entrepreneur award by the Association of Independent Music. As well as writing professionally he also works as a firefighter for the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service and runs community arts projects in the Isle of Skye, most recently as one of the project directors of Culture Collective that won Best Community Project at the Stage Awards.
