Jorge Brea is founder and CEO of Symphonic Distribution, a fully independent, global music services company offering distribution, marketing, royalty collection and more for artists, labels and managers.
He began his musical career at the age of 16 as a DJ and producer, releasing over 45 vinyl records in the electronic music scene. Faced with the difficulties faced by independent artists, Jorge launched Symphonic in 2006 without outside funding-with the sole ambition of empowering musicians worldwide.
Today, Symphonic employs over 200 people in North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America, with headquarters in Tampa and offices in Brooklyn, Nashville, Bogotá, Mexico City, South Africa, Canada and Brazil. The company has distributed millions of titles and paid out hundreds of millions of dollars in royalties, supporting thousands of independent creators worldwide. Symphonic has raised over $40 million in venture capital financing to date.
Jorge is widely recognized as a leader in the independent music industry. He was named an Indie Power Player by Billboard in 2025 and previous years, received the Music Biz Next Gen Award, and was selected for the Tampa Bay Business Journal's "40 Under 40" ranking. He was also featured on the cover of Tampa Bay Business & Wealth magazine.
In addition to his leadership role, Jorge actively contributes to the evolution of the industry through the Music Fights Fraud alliance and oversees Symphonic's monthly support of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. He also champions causes such as animal rights, mental health and gender equality.
