I have been the CEO and artistic director of Tamanoir, a contemporary world music venue in Gennevilliers, for 11 years. I also co-directed the multi "un "disciplinary festival "Les Arts Dînent à l'Huile" in Douarnenez, Brittany, for 10 years. Through regular programming, project support, creative assistance, and participation in the Kréyol Month, a festival where I try to bring together artistic proposals from the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean, I am especially interested in the hybridizations of global sound, between contemporary, urban, and traditional music, especially with artists from abroad. Therefore, Célia Wa and Saodaj will be joining us for the upcoming edition on November 27.
Welcoming both French overseas artists based in Ile-de-France and those from across the oceans, I hope that, from where I am, I can modestly contribute to highlighting some of these artists and giving them a voice. I also hear their concerns, their needs for structuring, the economic difficulties related to transportation costs between here and there, the organization of a tour in mainland France.
Among the long, non-exhaustive list of French overseas artists who have already passed thru the Tamanoir: Danyèl Waro, Lindigo, TransKabar, Maya Kamaty, Kaloune, Sika Rlion, Rawb, Roger Raspail, Dowdelin, Yann Cléry, Sonny Troupé, Casey, Myriam Baldus, Labelle, An'Pagay...
