Born in Nancy into a family of music lovers, Hélène Mourot studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon, graduating in 2002 and earning her teaching diploma in 2004. Appointed principal oboist of the Opéra de Tours in 2001, she later taught in Nevers and Saint-Étienne. Eager to broaden her horizons, she turned to historical instruments, studying with Patrick Beaugiraud and Clémentine Humeau, as well as contemporary music theater alongside Georges Aperghis at the Bern University of the Arts. Since then, she has pursued an independent career with numerous collaborations, and in 2013 joined the orchestra Les Siècles as principal oboist. Today, her work spans a wide repertoire, from baroque to contemporary, with a special focus on reviving 19th-century French music on period instruments. Passionate about sharing her art, she teaches historical oboes at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris. Elected to the board of SPEDIDAM in 2023, she became its president in 2025.
