David HAMELIN

ALHAMBRA PARIS
Operations Manager & Founding Partner
FR
David Hamelin is one of the three founding partners of the "ALHAMBRA PARIS" music venue in the 10th arrondissement. He is responsible for all aspects of the venue's operations, from building and audience safety to the monitoring and production of shows. Since 2008, when it reopened after three years of renovation, the venue has devoted itself to offering a highly eclectic program of musical and comedy performances. With its balcony, the ALHAMBRA is a music hall. It offers either a seated version with a capacity of 600, or a mixed seated/standing version with a capacity of 799. Until the onset of the "Covid 19" health crisis, ALHAMBRA produced and presented in-house comedy and visual arts artists. In addition to his professional activities, David Hamelin is involved in the cultural "eco-system", holding positions in a number of professional organizations, including : LE CENTRE NATIONAL DE LA MUSIQUE (CNM): he is a member of the "Soutien aux entreprises" commission, responsible for restructuring and economic development programs. LA SCÈNE INDÉPENDANTE (ex SNES): He is a member of the Management Committee and has also held the position of Vice-President Humor since November 2022. His background: He began his career in the cultural sector at the age of 17. During his studies, he completed his first assignment at MARIANNE MELODIE, a record company owned by Jean-Claude Auclair, who became his main "trainer". David Hamelin became his assistant, accompanying him on all his projects, notably with the "RMC" Group, where Jean-Claude Auclair was events director (radio: RMC, Nostalgie, MFM / TV: MCM). Later, driven by curiosity and a desire to find other professional assets, David Hamelin took a stint in the luxury goods industry, in the luxury watchmaking sector, to train sales staff for the Vendôme Group's Roissy and Orly airport boutiques. He also worked for the French Ministry of Education as a specialized educator for children at an elementary school in the town of Vauréal in the Val-d'Oise. After these experiences, which enriched his understanding of human relations and enabled him to develop both teamwork and collaboration, he returned to the live performance sector as a production and touring producer. David has worked on a variety of shows in the theater and music sectors, with artists such as Jean-Claude Dreyfus and Valérie Mairesse, Bernadette Lafont, Jean-Luc Moreau, Annie Girardot, Georges Wilson and other musical artists such as Carole Fredericks, Tina Arena, Khaled, Ishtar Alabina, as well as Maurice Bacquet and Annie Cordy. All these experiences, partly at the side of Jean-Claude Auclair, led him to join forces with him and Maria Charrit (former general administrator of the Karsenty tours, the Pré-Saint-Gervais décor workshop and the Théâtre de la Comédie de Paris) to take over and reopen the ALHAMBRA venue, making it what it is today within the fabric of Parisian concert halls. However, with a genuine interest in the sector, in sharing, advising and accompanying, he will be taking a "break" from ALHAMBRA to join the teams at the CENTRE NATIONAL DES VARIÉTÉS (CNV), now the CENTRE NATIONAL DE LA MUSIQUE (CNM), and more specifically alongside Pierrette Betto, in charge of the corporate sector, under the successive management of Catherine Giffard and Jacques Renard. Torn between the collective interest and entrepreneurship, confrontation with the field and the feeling that he hadn't really done his homework in the live performance sector, David left the CNV and resumed his role as an active shareholder in the ALHAMBRA associate trio. His love of sharing, pooling and the collective interest is now reflected in his responsibilities for organizations outside the Alhambra, such as LA SCÈNE INDÉPENDANTE and the CNM.
