Cristina Perpiñá-Robert has been Managing Director of Sociedad General de Autores y Editores (SGAE) since April 2023. In 2023, the SGAE achieved record sales of 349.1 million euros (the highest in 15 years) and distributed 354 million euros (an increase of 11.9% on 2022). With 140,000 members, the SGAE strives to support Spanish and international creators. 2024 marks the 125th anniversary of the SGAE, with priorities being to aim for simpler administration and governance, and to appeal to a much younger generation of creators (particularly where Spanish and Latino urban music is concerned). Ms. Perpiñá-Robert has over 25 years' experience in the field of copyright and collective management. She has held senior positions in international organizations such as the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC), as Director of Legal and Public Affairs (2019-2023). Ms. Perpiñá-Robert also worked at the SGAE from 1998 to 2018, holding various positions such as Director of Regulatory Affairs and Digital Markets (2016-2018) and Coordinator of Legal Services. A law graduate from Madrid's Complutense University, she is a professor, lecturer and regular contributor to international conferences and congresses on intellectual property, collective management and artificial intelligence. Ms. Perpiñá-Robert is also the author of several publications on copyright and intellectual property.
