The Institut français is the public establishment, under the supervision of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, responsible for French cultural policy abroad. Its activities cover all areas of the arts, intellectual exchanges, cultural and social innovation and linguistic cooperation. Within the Department of Artistic Creation and Cultural Industries, the music activities of the Institut français supports artists and industry professionals in their international careers through programs that promote creation, distribution, mobility, and skills development, while also strengthening partnerships with cultural actors in France and abroad.
Supported by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Création Africa initiative helps to develop the cultural and creative industries on the African continent through targeted support for structuring projects in the film, audiovisual, video game, animation and music sectors. Africa Creative Sounds is a programme of Création Africa, coordinated by the Institut français, which aims to support and boost the African music scene by showcasing the diversity and innovation of its productions. In response to the growing needs of the cultural and creative industries in Africa, the programme is deploying a range of strategic initiatives aimed at building the capacity of local players, raising the profile of African talent and stimulating the continent's creative economy.
