Fédération France Festivals
Festivals are facing multiple challenges: cost rising - especially artistic and technical - fragile financial balances, climate changes and an evolution of public's cultural practices. Are these challenges weakening festivals'actions in favour of artistic emergence and diversity?
Festivals have always played a key role in artistic careers, by supporting first stages, by stimulating a professional networking and by welcoming artists' first encounters with a public.
But the conditions that made this possible seem to be changing. Can risks still be taken? Do artists and producers have the same interest for festivals?
Given this reality, it is essential to collectively reflect on the responsibilities, roles, and resources of all stakeholders-artists, organizers, producers, and partners-to imagine more suitable, supportive, and sustainable models, to help evolve the festival ecosystem, and to ensure its structural role in artists' careers.
To open this dialogue, France Festivals suggests exploring relations and mutual expectations of artists and festivals 'organisers, in envisioning the festival of tomorrow.
