As its name suggests, Villes des Musiques du Monde is a structure that develops a cultural and artistic project around the promotion, dissemination and transmission of world music and culture.
The project covers the whole of Seine-Saint-Denis and Greater Paris, and is firmly anchored in Aubervilliers, the birthplace and now home of the Point Fort
d'Aubervilliers, Scène d'intérêt national musiques et danses du monde.
The evening features artists who have passed through the Prix des Musiques d'ICI, a national scheme for spotting and supporting artists initiated in 2017 by Villes des Musiques du Monde.
It concerns musicians and singers from diasporas and the national artists with whom they collaborate. It also aims to promote the collective appropriation of an artistic and cultural heritage. Artists steeped in a dual culture work alongside musicians they meet to revisit the repertoires of the trad, rock jazz, electro or hip hop scene, and reinvent the music of today. These Musiques d'ICI are influenced by rhythms and sounds from "elsewhere", but created right here on our own soil!
Since its inception, the Prix des Musiques d'ICI has provided a solid springboard and encouragement for musical expression that has grown up here.
