With LES OMBRES DE LA BÊTE, François Robin and Mathias Delplanque created in 2019 an immersive sound world - dissecting, exploring, and manipulating the organic sounds of the veuze (a type of bagpipe) while flirting with krautrock, minimalist music, drone, and traditional music.
Today, the duo expands into a quartet to present a powerful, striking, and raw concert experience devoted to trance.
The thread running through their repertoire? "La Grand'danse" - a traditional dance from Northern Vendée, deeply rooted in the musical, familial, and cultural heritage of François Robin. With the addition of tenor and baritone saxophonist Ronan Le Gourierec and Dylan James on prepared double bass, LES OMBRES DE LA BÊTE dive into polyrhythms, tribal energy, rough textures, and hypnotic soundscapes - blending acoustic and electronic timbres with strong dynamic swings.
