This year will mark CYRIL MOKAIESH's 17th year as an artist (officially!). At 38, this former junior tennis champion boasts a diverse discography, and it's far from over. He returns this year with a new album called "On voudrais vivre." After embarking on his musical adventure under the banner of "Unbridled Rock," he flirted with French chanson: sometimes orchestral, sometimes intimate, he uses vindictive, fully conscious lyrics, focused on reflections on current societal issues. Over the course of his albums, he has also moved from open Anglo-Saxon pop to electronic music blending sounds from his Lebanese origins.
For "On voudrais vivre," Cyril once again enlisted the services of Romain Humeau, a member of the rock band Eiffel who has worked with Bernard Lavilliers, BASHUNG, and NOIR DÉSIR, as producer. The latter invited him a second time to spend a few weeks with him in his studio in the south of France to work hard on this next album.
We can now say it, this project is radically different from what we are used to with MOKAIESH. The instrumentals mix machines and acoustic instruments, on which he addresses the social themes that are close to his heart while focusing more on love, appeasement, and acceptance. It is therefore a MOKAIESH turned towards the future and resilience that returns to the forefront.
