BELUGUETA gives voice to words - through singing, through rhythm, through percussion. Five distinctive, richly textured voices, shaped by traditional songs and musical curiosity, come together in polyphony and polyrhythm to create something original.
Written, composed, and sung in the Occitan language, their music reveals the generosity, simplicity, and even the raw intimacy of the voice–percussion duo. The five artists move within diverse traditional cultures, sharing both the fruits and the challenges they bring: to enrich and inform the popular repertoire with their individual stories and what they reveal of the universal.
It was in the Toulouse region that the choice to use the local Occitan language to carry this new repertoire became clear - a unique creation shaped by all their influences, built around the texts of Lisà Langlois-Garrigue.
