Yann Cléry is a Guyanese artist based in Paris.
Flautist, singer, songwriter and producer, he's also what we call an artistic chameleon: he blends in with all styles.
And if we know him mainly as a flautist and singer or rapper Mc, we forget that he tried his hand at the stage as an actor and dancer with Cie le Monte-Charge in 2006 and Hapax in 2007.
This versatility surely explains why he's so comfortable and explosive on stage. When he's on the magic square, he deploys an energy that's both "joeystarrienne" and a "jacquesdutronesque" sensuality that leaves no one unmoved.
For over 15 years, he has shared the stage with artists such as UHT° (drum & bass), Booster & Sandra NKaké (jazz electro), The Jazz Liberatorz (rap), Emmanuel Bex (jazz) and Jamalski (jungle ragga) as singer, backing vocalist and/or flautist.
Today, he collaborates with the groups Chlorine Free (funk/electro) and Mo'Kalamity (roots reggae), and performs at major venues and festivals in France, Europe and around the world.
Yann Cléry is behind several original creations: "Visions de Guyane", a show for young audiences, "Witongo" with the Bushinengés of the Duracel group in St Laurent, Guyana, "Rythmes Sacrés" with the Teko Amerindians and, in 2019, "Potomitan" with Yannick Théolade and his martial art Djokan.
A pedagogue, 8 years ago he created a multi-disciplinary training program offering MAO, flute master classes and improvisation and management courses.
Yann Cléry released his 1st album Motozot under his own name in October 2017. The red thread of this opus is the zoban drum of Guyanese tradition, married with current music (rock, slam, drum&bass) and jazz. This opus was hailed by enthusiastic critics (FIP, France Musique...) and a Lindor for best composer in 2018.
In 2022, Yann Cléry embarks on a solo adventure: YANN SOLO. Nothing to do here with space opera, even if like a Jedi, Yann dexterously handles his laser flute and skilfully tames the machines that accompany him in this musical production that offers us 12 exceptional tracks. Released on March 10, 2023, it has received unanimous praise from the press (FIP, RFI, NOVA, FRANCE TV...).
