After studying engineering, Isabelle Soulard, passionate about live performance and steeped in a family history of opera singing, began her career at the Opéra de Paris Bastille. She managed the creation of the in-house video department, where she acquired expertise in multi-camera recording for the opera's audiovisual heritage. It was also here that she met many of the professionals who would later place their trust in her.
When the Cité de la Musique was created, Isabelle was asked to set up concert recordings and build up the media library's archives. In the 2010s, with the rise of Internet broadcasting, thanks in particular to Arte Live Web, she became one of the directors of this new generation.
She films music, choreography, theater and opera for prestigious institutions such as the Château de Versailles, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Grand Théâtre de Provence, the Opéra de Lille, and international venues such as the Rudolfinum in Prague and the Müpa in Budapest. She also films for renowned festivals such as the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Ambronay and the Verbier Festival.
Isabelle has collaborated with classical music artists such as Martha Argerich, Renaud Capuçon, Janine Jansen and Yuja Wang, under renowned conductors such as Pierre Boulez and Sir Colin Davis, as well as today's Marin Alsop, Gustavo Dudamel, Klaus Mäkelä and Simon Rattle. She has also taken an interest in contemporary music, filming artists such as Einstürzende Neubauten Marianne Faithfull.
Committed to passing on her knowledge, she occasionally takes part in audiovisual training courses, with a view to developing a program dedicated to the production of live events, while nurturing the dream of directing a musical.
