Emilie MOUTET

Emilie Moutet, singer-songwriter, released her debut EP Pancakes in 2018 under the name Willows. Initially a violinist, then a self-taught guitarist and finally turning to keyboards after a hand injury, it was a meeting with Mark Daumail (Cocoon) that spurred the start of the recording of this very organic EP, first in his studio, then in that of drummer and arranger Paul Magne (Cocoon, Tété...).
With a soft vocal timbre reminiscent of Joan Baez, a mysterious, melancholy sound and intimate, dark writing that contrasts with some deceptively joyful songs, her influences come from revered artists such as Sufjan Stevens, Patrick Watson, Ásgeir and Tori Amos, Regina Spektor and Taylor Swift.
Performing alone on keyboard and guitar, or accompanied by Paul Magne on guitar, samples and backing vocals, or with bass/drums and even strings in fuller formulas, the project's stage incarnations embrace a universe ranging from the most pared-down, acoustic pop/folk to energetic, elegant alternative pop.
In 2021 she won the FIP/RIFFX competition for FIP's 50th anniversary. Selected as a "Génération SPEDIDAM" 2022-2024 artist the same year, she played at Printemps de Bourges, Francofolies de la Rochelle and Festival Off d'Avignon in 2023. Also winner of the Seule(s) en Scène 2023 competition, she performed at the New Morning (Paris) during the JIRAFE festival.
Her next album Happy End of the World was recorded with Paul Magne over a three-year period and will be released on October 27, 2023 on the Chose Fabuleuse label.
