David Ocaña Páramo is a Policy officer at ICMP, the global trade organization representing the music publishing industry.

ICMP represents majors, independents and 76 national groups on six continents. ICMP members are the meeting point between music creation (the world's leading investors in songwriters and composers) and music markets (licensing for all formats, including broadcast, live, digital, etc.).

David supports a range of ICMP's core policy activities, including researching international legislation, advocating copyright in ICMP's work with authorities around the world, and coordinating global projects, all to achieve ICMP's key mission of creating an optimal environment for music to thrive.

David's most recent projects include the fight against pirate digital music services and marketplaces, the first international market report on the music publishing industry, the launch of ICMP's anti-piracy platform, and in-depth research into topics such as international rights flows.

Before joining ICMP, David worked in the UK, where he gained experience in A&R, artist management and legal and commercial affairs. During this time, he negotiated and supervised artist contracts with record companies, publishers and other external agents.
