An active musician in the 1990s, Jean-Robert Bisaillon is co-director of the Laboratoire de recherche sur la découvrabilité et les transformations des industries culturelles à l'ère du commerce électronique (LATICCE). He holds a master's degree in Pratiques de recherche et action publique from INRS (Montreal) on music metadata issues, and is completing a second master's degree in Économie politique (UQAM). He is founder of the MetaD consulting firm, specialized in digital data for the cultural sectors, and a consultant for the MétaMusique project. He is a member of DDEX, an international sound recording industry consortium. He has served on numerous industry boards, including those of SOCAN and Musicaction (Canada).
