Eskelina is a Swedish singer-songwriter who has lived in France since 2006.
With her clear voice, tinged with a gentle Scandinavian melancholy, she likes to tell intimate, poetic stories carried by folk music that takes you on a journey.
Arriving in France at the age of 21, she began singing in the streets of Sarlat in the Dordogne. Barefoot and flowers in her hair.
At a "Debout sur le zinc" concert in 2010, she played her demo to Christophe Bastien, the band's guitarist at the time. He soon offered to write songs for her. For the lyrics, Christophe called on Florent Vintrigner from "La rue Ketanou".
And so begins a beautiful artistic collaboration: Eskelina tells her life story, Florent transforms her stories into song lyrics, and Christophe composes the melodies.
They set up the "L'atelier du Pélican" label, under which they released three French folk albums with Eskelina as interpreter. She was recognized by the public and the professional world, twice winning the Prix George Moustaki.
The Swedish singer has made a name for herself on the French scene.
Selected for the Génération Spedidam program in 2022-24, Eskelina decided to take advantage of the opportunity to launch a daring project: to travel to Sweden to record a Franco-Swedish album with a large team of French musicians, and to launch an exchange project between different artistic expressions.
And so, in 2023, she sets off for a fourth album in Sweden with a team of 5 French musicians. This time, she will write and compose for the "Korrespondens" project.
With a new Franco-Swedish album, "Korrespondens", due for release in October 2024, featuring timeless sounds, and a tour with the illustrated musical tale "Into the woods", already scheduled for the Musée d'Orsay next year, Eskelina reveals herself as a multi-disciplinary artist who has no end of surprises in store.
