Internationally renowned artist and artistic director, singer and flautist, composer and improviser, producer and teacher, Clotilde Rullaud is a multi-faceted creator who uses multiple arts to create new poetic languages.
She released her first albums in 2007 as a duo with guitarist Hugo Lippi, then in 2011 with the quartet In Extremis, ranked in the top 5 albums of the year by The Sunday Times (UK) and in the top album of 2013 by the NPR Annual Jazz Critics Poll - debut album category (US). After a long career on the New York jazz scene, she was named one of the top three vocalists of the year by Jazz Mag x Jazz News in 2022 and 2023.
Her duo Madeleine & Salomon, with pianist Alexandre Saada, enjoyed resounding success in France and internationally with the albums A Woman's Journey (2016), which won 16 awards including 6 as best album in France and the USA, and Eastern Spring (2022), critically acclaimed with 4T from Télérama, 4 stars from JazzWise (UK) and "Editor's Choice" from Jazziz (US).
Clotilde is also the author, director and composer of the diptych XXY, which explores gender injunctions. This project includes an experimental film that has been screened at over 30 international festivals and won 5 awards and nominations, and a choreographic and film concert for 5 musicians, 5 dancers and a film.
Co-founder of Tzig'Art, she has been its artistic director since 2011.
