Destiny Tchéhouali is Professor in the Department of Communication at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). He is Co-Holder of the Quebec Research Chair on Francophone Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies, and Holder of the UNESCO Chair in Communication and Technologies for Development.
His research and publications in recent years have focused on discoverability and access to the diversity of cultural expressions in the digital environment. He is particularly interested in the impact of artificial intelligence and algorithmic recommendation systems on the promotion and enhancement of French-language cultural content and products.
In connection with these issues, Destiny Tchéhouali regularly advises and collaborates with governments and international organizations in the development and implementation of public policies and strategies (national, international and intergovernmental) aimed at fostering more inclusive, equitable and sustainable digital and cultural development.
Internationally recognized for his expertise and work in the fields of broadcasting and telecommunications, cultural production and consumption, and the regulation of digital technologies, media and players, Professor Tchéhouali has acted as expert/consultant and researcher for the European Commission, UNESCO, the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) and the Secretariat of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP).
He is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the Observatoire de la langue française of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Quebec chapter of the Internet Society (ISOC Quebec) and Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Agence francophone pour l'intelligence artificielle (AFRIA).
