Chloé Bodart founded Compagnie Architecture in 2008, after collaborating for 15 years with Patrick Bouchain and the Construire agency. In 2018, Jules Eymard joined her as a partner. Based in Bordeaux, Compagnie Architecture is currently composed of about fifteen individuals.
Chloé Bodart has contributed to PEROU and the Socialdesign platform; she is an elected member of the 308-Maison de l’Architecture in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region and serves as the advisory architect for the City of Saint-Médard-en-Jalles, in Gironde.
Compagnie Architecture explores projects that allow for a tailored and joyful approach, considering that it is possible to design and build differently by placing the human dimension at the core of practice. The encounter and enhancement of user expertise, along with attentive listening to the client’s needs, form the primary project material, offering a level of care adapted to everyone.
The sensitive reuse of existing structures and materials, the consideration of the already-there -whether human, landscaped, built, or perceptible- are prioritized, integrating a commitment to the preservation of the Living, the use of geo- and bio-sourced materials, and placing matter where it matters. Compagnie enjoys designing pragmatic, expressive, colorful, and responsible architecture.
The agency is dedicated to developing a work process enriched by cross-disciplinary practices: designing with models, “inhabiting” projects through architectural or urban residencies, opening construction sites, sharing through festive events, and transmitting knowledge through editorial projects.
Among Compagnie’s projects are new constructions, rehabilitations, urban projects, and scenography: SMAC Le Krakatoa in Mérignac, Halles de la Cartoucherie and its concert hall in Toulouse, SMAC Le Quai M in La Roche-sur-Yon, Frida Kahlo school complex in Bruges, Château du Domaine de Longchamp for the Goodplanet Foundation in Paris, and the scenography for the show Habiter n’est pas dormir by the company Volubilis.
