Julie Bessard is a French singer, songwriter, producer and musician. She began singing and producing in 2004 under the name BESSA. Today, her HSRS project, drawing on influences such as Björk, Connan Mockasin, King Krule, Solange and Radiohead, blends elements of English pop, jazz-punk and electronic music.
On the eve of her 40th birthday, Julie Bessard released "Truth Blower", a work of personal experimentation, both musically and thematically. These include late motherhood and the creativity of women of all ages. The sounds are both naïve and gritty, this primitive character driving a music that naturally reaches the body. The tracks have a pop format but transgressive structures in which the sound space is unevenly shaped by syncopated accents, unconventional melodies, rich timbres and bold placement of elements that allow for different levels of appreciation over the course of several listens. The voice, for its part, is treated as an instrument at the service of the work.
