Elias Dris was 20 when he flew to California, the cradle of American counterculture and the songwriters who inspire it, to record Gold In The Ashes (2017) alongside the father and producer of singer Alela Diane. A bouquet of authentic, sensitive folksongs, this debut album is noted for its astonishing fullness and the vocal ease the young artist demonstrates. Beatnik Or Not To Be (2019) confirms this promise. This second, fuller, more accomplished album saw him play over a hundred concerts across France.
In the course of his encounters with audiences, he fine-tunes his style and his own sound. This stage is also an opportunity for him to affirm the eclecticism of his inspirations and weave bridges between his folk, pop and hip hop influences. These well assimilated references enable him to innovate without losing his personality.
